I am

My name is Kim-Yen Nguyen, and I have a master’s degree in Danish and Psychology from the University of Southern Denmark and the University of Copenhagen. I use photography to tell stories of everyday life. It’s magical realism without magic.

From life itself, I have learned the lessons of the Thomas Theorem "if mankind define situations as real, they are real in their consequences". Therefore, I sincerely wish with our stories that we consciously take a stand on our existence and the way we define it.

This is the basic core of my work and all the collaborations with different participants.

I prefer black & white in photography as it leaves the spectator with imagination on the images colors, origins and moods. My favorite method is the minimalistic approach to put out all the noises. I rarely work with props - only lights and pozing.

Exaggeration is yelling. Less is more.
