HEY THERE! I’M A PHOTOGRAPHER BASED IN ODENSE, DENMARK

My name is Kim-Yen Nguyen. I am a Vietnamese-Danish photographer - originally with a master’s degree in Linguistics and Psychology. I use photography to tell stories of everyday life and portrait the essens of humans.

I work by the lesson of the Thomas Theorem: “If mankind define situations as real, they are real in their consequences.” The way we reflect on our stories and choose to define them shapes everything.

I enjoy all my photographic rides and honestly believe that curiosity is the driving force behind every meaningful image.

I photograph reality, not to capture what is, but to sense what trembles just beneath. My attention lingers on what the mind hasn't yet named: the preconscious, the felt, the fleeting.

I'm drawn to the quiet edges of experience, where imagination brushes against the everyday, where something small becomes strange, or suddenly lit from within. This is not escape, but a return to presence, to perception, to the body's way of knowing.

My work circles the spaces where meaning begins to form. I’m not looking for answers. I’m listening for resonance.

As a photographer, I’m very dependent on my eyes, but as a visual artist it is crucial that my imagination never leaves my body. Eyes are for technical adjustments. Imaginations are for deep dives and chasing the hidden images beyond.
